Abstract

Education is a new agenda for society to increase the dignity of life by sharing information and disseminating the latest knowledge in various global transformations. The development of knowledge is also created from the Malays’ thinking that is quite creative, abstract and rational through allegorical expressions like idioms. In this study, the idioms are based on four aspects of thinking namely, obstinate, stubborn, headstrong and determined mind to a question about the integration approach in teaching idioms of the underlying intellectual minds of the Malays. This is based on the concept of the head as the uppermost part of the human body. The position of the head at this highest point makes it the most important round physical shape in controlling the human body system. Inside the head lies the brain which is filled with the mind as the center of human thought so that man can create language to communicate. The development of this language is in line with the development of human thought itself. This study was conducted to refute the claims of past researchers about the generation of meaning from the source domain to the target domain only. To prove that human thinking is not one-way from source to target, then the proof of the corpus 'head' corpus data of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP) and Malay Concordance Project (MCP) amounting to 12,227 was used. Qualitative methods are described using a computerized corpus descriptive analysis approach. The findings explain the meaning of idioms occurs in an orderly manner through the four chambers of the Malay mind. Indeed, this study adds new information in the field of education, particularly the study of Malay cognitive linguistics fundamental thinking about the uniqueness of the Malays.
