Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore the pattern of children’s social interaction through free play at pre-school. This qualitative study were carried out in the form of an embedded single case study among twelve pre-schoolers age five and six. The data collection through observation, interview and document analysis method. Overall, the findings reveal that children exhibited a variety of positive social interaction during free play with peers. This study demonstrates that free play in pre-school has enhanced an environment that is rich with social learning through verbal and non-verbal communications, cooperation, sharing, idea contribution and problem solving. The research finding indicate that play activities are very important in enhancing children's social interactions and should be given priority in preschool.
