Abstract

"Education for All" means that each student has the right to learn whether he or she is classified as a superior student, a poor student or a problem student. This study is aimed at identifying the problem students’ expectations of teachers’ teaching. A theoretical framework by Borman and Fermanich Odden (2004) is applied to guide the implementation of this study in a framework emphasizing the importance of student factors that affect the school and teachers. To achieve the objectives of the study, data were collected using qualitative methods through interviews with two problem students. The data were analyzed using thematic analysis that involves familiarization, theme development, coding, chart development, and mapping and interpretation. This study found that the students expected an effective teaching process involving the following aspects: quality of teaching, teaching methods based on students' level of ability, incentive and teacher time management. The implication of this study is all types of students crave success and the teacher is one of the factors contributing to this success.
