Abstract

The role of civil society organisations (CSOs) is much appreciated worldwide for their contribution. This paper aims to describe the origin and nature of CSOs in different dimensions and their commitment to sustainable development. Review of secondary sources was the key technique for data and content analysis. This paper points out that sustainable development is an essential ingredient for a safe earth, life and livelihood of the next generations and there is no alternative to it. No nation is capable of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals alone. Moreover, these goals must be anchored in the future global agenda. This paper also provides a set of policy recommendations for greater CSO engagement in sustainable development through global partnerships.
