Abstract

Student involvement in criminal activities and drug abuse reflects the seriousness of social problems among school students.  School counselors are the main actors in helping students with issues at school.  A study was conducted to identify school counselors' acceptance on the implementation of school social work interventions in addressing students' social problems. The study was conducted using quantitative methods by distributing questionnaires at secondary school in Kuala Lumpur. Forty-five school counselors were involved in this study. The findings show that the counselors' acceptance of the implementation of school social work interventions is promising. These findings indicate that school social work interventions to address students' social problems in Malaysia are vital. The school social worker's involvement is essential in the education sector to reduce the social issues of students and the workload of the school counselors.
