Abstract

This paper illustrates how conventional thinking, liberal-feminism and the reformist’s worldview influence the ways in which Muslim intellectuals in Malaysia perceived and responded to the issue of gender bias. Focusing on liberal-feminism, the issue of gender bias in Malaysian society is analysed on the aspects of its ontology, epistemology and axiology. The discussion picks women’s role as mother to illustrate the practice of equal treatment of women in Muslim-Malay community.
