Its primary aim is to provide an analysis of the historical background of Imam al-Nawawi in light of the historical works of his contemporaries and later biographers. Al-Nawawi was hailed as the mainstay (‘umda) of the madhhab in the 7th century AD, that his creative works of hadith (prophetic tradition) and law continued to be referred to and commented upon in the uninterrupted line of traditional scholarship in Islamic intellectual history, particularly in the majority Sunnis and Shafiite school of law. The study is based on qualitative method in the form of documentative and library research. It used historical, descriptive, analytical and comparative approaches to survey and analyse various documents and data related to the topic, in order to make accurate finding and conclusion. The finding shows that al-Nawawi’s traditional works had profoundly influence the theological current of Sunni Islam and its authority and traditional orthodoxy while his masterful juridical method, opinion and ruling had decisively impacted the historical work of Shafiite school of law. It has momentously contributed to the rigorous tradition of scholarly works produced in the Shafiite school, that mainly derived from his major works and commentary as the school’s leading groundwork and classic masterpiece representing its traditional opinion and ruling. Thanks to his outstanding commentary and dynamic interpretation of the shariah, that offered significance method in giving preference (tarjih) in determining the preferred ruling between legal text, forthcoming from his independent reasoning and high level of ijtihad.
Ahmad Nabil Amir Copyright (c) 2023 Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/37736 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0800 Analisis Living Quran Dalam Amalan Ruqyah Shar’iyah di Madat Aceh Timur Provinsi Aceh https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/47315
Ruqyah represents one of the therapeutic methodologies once imparted by Prophet Muhammad. Conventionally, ruqyah is practiced utilizing water. However, the approach adopted by Madam Nuari deviates from this norm. At the culmination of her treatment sessions, she mandates patients to employ ruqyah through the mediums of rice plants and grains. Consequently, the researcher is intrigued to explore this, aiming to comprehend the practice of the ruqyah syar’iyah method via rice plants and grains, and Madam Nuari's understanding of the Quranic verses employed during ruqyah, coupled with societal perceptions. This investigation employs a qualitative approach and encompasses field research. Research data was amassed via observation techniques, interviews, and documentation, subsequently undergoing a descriptive analysis. The findings reveal that firstly, this ruqyah practice harnesses verses from the Qur'an; upon concluding the treatment, specific prayers are recited over rice plants and grains, which are then cascaded from the patient's head to feet before being discarded. Secondly, regarding Madam Nuari's grasp of the verses employed, she articulates verses without reference to textual material, elucidates the intrinsic meanings of certain chapters, and correctly discerns the verses' intended meanings. Thirdly, the community of Madat perceives the ruqyah syar’iyah method with esteem, believing that this therapy carries blessings and can, with the grace of Allah, cure specific ailments. Thus, the research outcomes indicate that the ruqyah practiced by Madam Nuari adheres faithfully to the Islamic doctrine, as originally taught by Prophet Muhammad.
Abd. Yet, it has not been fully addressed due to differences in scholarly views. As a result of intermingling of Muslims with non-Muslims, interfaith marriages are difficult to avoid, which if not controlled, may lead to such marriages taking place against the true teachings of Islam. This study was a comparative study of the following three contexts: the background of interfaith marriages in Malaysia and Indonesia; haram and conditional fatwas between the fatwas of the National Council for Islamic Affairs of Malaysia and the Indonesian Ulema Council from the perspective of maqasid shariah and finally, the influence of both fatwas on the practice of interfaith marriages in Malaysia and Indonesia. Data collection was done through documentation and comparative methods, while data analysis was through descriptive qualitative methods using maqasid shariah as the main yardstick. The results of this study showed that fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council is more in conformity with maqasid al-shariah from the point of view of preserving religion and lineage compared to the fatwa of the National Council of Malaysia, which allows conditional interfaith marriages, as in the kitabiah descendants of Prophet Yaqub AS. Hence, from the implementation outlook, the fatwa of the National Council of Malaysia is more effective. The acts and laws regulating interfaith marriages in Malaysia are based on specific legal provisions while there are no rulings from the Indonesian Ulema Council. It is hoped that with the fatwa on interfaith marriage, lineage and Islam under al-kulliyyat al-khams for generations of Muslims in Malaysia and Indonesia, will be preserved and the strength of Muslims in various fields will be revitalised.
Abdul Hakim, Ridzwan Ahmad, Syed Mohd Jeffri Syed Jaafar Copyright (c) 2023 Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/47198 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0800 Aplikasi Maṣlaḥah Mursālah Dalam Perluasan Takrifan Asnaf Zakat Dan Kesannya Dalam Mendepani Krisis Kemiskinan Di Malaysia https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/48678
Changing times have led to the emergence of contemporary issues on Islamic jurisprudence (fiqh) without specific legal evidence (nas hukum). Consequently, they use of alternative legal sources, which is maṣlaḥah mursālah to solve the issues. Maṣlaḥah mursālah is an instrument employed by scholars (fuqaha) to address Islamic legal issues lacking specific evidence. In the context of zakat distribution management, certain categories of recipients (asnaf), especially those related to fi sabilillah, are observed to no longer exist due to the absence of 'illah (legal cause) for these recipients. To enhance productivity in zakat distribution, scholars engage in ijtihad, considering maṣlaḥah mursālah as one of the arguments for expanding the definition of these recipients. Therefore, this article evaluates the application of maṣlaḥah mursālah as a rationale for broadening the definition of fi sabilillah recipients based on criteria established by fuqaha. It also assesses the effects of expanding the definition of fi sabilillah recipients in addressing contemporary poverty crises. The qualitative research conducted focuses solely on fi sabilillah recipients. The findings indicate that the use of maṣlaḥah mursālah in expanding the definition of recipients has a significant impact on the quantity of zakat distribution. In a nut shell, authorities should reconsider the consequences of broadening the definition of zakat recipients in the present context, prioritizing more deserving recipients to alleviate poverty.
Muhammad Safwan Harun, Hafizi Zikry Hasim, Muhammad Ikhlas Rosele, Abdul Karim Ali Copyright (c) 2023 Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/48678 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0800 منهج الإمام يحي الشَّاوِي الجزائري في عرض حاشيته على شرح أم البراهين للسنوسي https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/45914

Abstract

This study aims to presentthe biography and the careerof one of the scholars of the Islamic nation, who rose to prominence during the 11thHijri century. He, may God have mercy on him, showed a strong memory, an amazing faculty, and a well-trained narration and knowledge in dealing with the two revelations, not to mention the good spelling of the phrase, and the precise employment of grammar, logic, and origins, this was evident in the ways he dealt and explained the phrase of Imam EL SENOUSSI, may God have mercy on him.His explanation ranged between commenting, alerting, deep searching, deriving benefits and the unique, and making good use of what scholars say without intolerance, imitation, or amputation of context all that were with a great politeness and good will. His methods for presenting this book have varied according to what the situation requires, sometimes he depends on direct indoctrination, and sometimes he intends to provoke and implement the mind in question and answer, and sometimes he resorts to illustration, according to the principle of gradual indoctrination of young people.
Ali Ali Gobaili Saged, Ben Kherif Alaa Eddine, Syed Mohammad Hilmi Syed Abdul Rahman Copyright (c) 2023 Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/45914 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0800 Symbiotic Relationship between Deviant Religious Teachings and Conspiracy Theories: Characteristics, Adaptability, and Impact on the Muslim Community https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/44267
This paper examines the symbiotic relationship between deviant religious teachings and conspiracy theories, investigating their shared characteristics, adaptability, and impact on the Muslim community. The study objectives encompass analyzing examples of this relationship, exploring the factors driving the utilization of conspiracy theories by deviant teachings, and evaluating the consequences for the Muslim community. Employing a qualitative approach, the research integrates a comprehensive literature review, case study analysis, and examination of online sources. The analysis involves collecting and scrutinizing instances of deviant teachings and their utilization of social media platforms, along with the accompanying conspiracy theories. The roles played by conspiracy theories in fostering group cohesion, legitimizing teachings, mobilizing support, and countering criticism are assessed. The findings reveal the extensive exploitation of social media and the internet by deviant teachings to propagate their ideologies. Conspiracy theories serve as potent tools to augment the appeal and credibility of these teachings, contributing to the formation of group identities, the establishment of legitimacy, and the attraction of followers. Furthermore, the study uncovers indications of potential involvement of proponents of deviant teachings as conspirators, given the proliferation of teachings with unclear sources and the reliance on conspiracy theories. In conclusion, this study emphasizes the necessity of comprehending and addressing the symbiotic relationship between deviant teachings and conspiracy theories. By promoting informed religious education and leveraging social media effectively, it is feasible to mitigate the adverse impact of these ideologies and safeguard the Muslim community against misconceptions and divisive influences.
Mohd Khairul Naim Che Nordin Copyright (c) 2023 Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/44267 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0800 ظاهرة أطفال الشوارع وعلاجها من منظور المنهج الإسلامي: جمعية كافل اليتيم الوطنية بالجزائر أنموذجا https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/48028
The aim of this research is to investigate the phenomenon of street children and its treatment from the perspective of the Islamic methodology, using the "Kafil Al-Yateem Association in Algeria" as a model. The phenomenon of street children in our contemporary time requires intensified efforts as it represent the most vulnerable group in many societies. Many societies often view them as belonging to the lower strata. The significance of the study lies in examining the phenomenon of street children and their rights in resolving their problems in the light of Islamic methodology, as opposed to systems and laws that may be inadequate at times. These solutions are human-made, unlike the divine Islamic approach. The researcher addressed the study of this phenomenon in the context of the Quran and Sunnah, focusing on the problems faced by street children within Algerian society. The researcher utilized a descriptive-analytical and applied methodology, including a field study on the "Kafil Al-Yateem National Association" and its activities towards orphans and street children. This involved conducting a survey with 193 association members and interviewing 7 permanent members of the association's admin distraction. The research results highlighted the role of the Islamic methodology and its concern for safeguarding the rights of orphans and street children. It also emphasized the role and efforts of the Kafil Al-Yateem Association in accommodating this group and providing them with the necessary care, gaining the satisfaction of most of society.
Slimane Naimi, Abdollatif Ramchahi, Khadher Ahmad Copyright (c) 2023 Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/48028 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0800 تأثير مسؤوليات مجلس الإدارة على جودة المعلومات المحاسبية https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/38753
Based on the world's crises over the last two decades, international bodies have sought to establish rules that govern commercial banks' standards of control and supervision. Although the banking sector is the backbone of economic life, governance has evolved over the last decade to include more transparency in management and regulate the relationship between the company's parties. Furthermore, to achieve a high level of quality in these reports, more trust should be placed in the information in these companies' financial reports. The problem statement addresses the effect of applying corporate governance standards of the responsibilities of the board of directors on the performance of Libyan commercial banks. The study aims to determine the effect of this standard's implementation on the quality of accounting information in Libyan commercial banks. In order to achieve the study's objectives, the questionnaire was used to collect data and assess the impact of applying standards of the responsibilities of the board of directors of corporate governance on the quality of accounting information. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development criterion was used as an independent variable, standards of the responsibilities of the board of directors, to measure it on the dependent variable (the quality of accounting information in banks). The study sample included several members of the board of directors, non-auditors, internal auditors, accountants and heads of departments in some branches of Libyan commercial banks. The descriptive approach was used in the analysis using the SPSS program. The study concluded that this governance standard positively impacts Libyan commercial banks' accounting information quality. However, this result was strong in the responsibilities of the board of directors on the quality of accounting information, in contrast to this study's standards and to previous studies. Comparing earlier research, it was found that the environment in which Libyan banks operate is different from that of these studies because Libyan banks confront a variety of hazards, including those related to the environment, the economy, politics, and security. The study also recommended that: the Central Bank should verify the banks' implementation of the Governance Guide issued by the Central Bank of Libya. Banks must have a guide to corporate governance principles and a committee responsible for ensuring compliance with the practice of these principles.
Nagi Hamd, Asmuliadi Lubis, Mohd Abd Wahab Fatoni Mohd Balwi Copyright (c) 2023 Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/38753 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0800 تعالقات السياسة والأخلاق بتحولات الهوية الغربية: فخر المثلية نموذجأ https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/45674
This study addresses the problem of identity and the centrality of values and ethics in Western culture and its relationship with politics, which has influenced its historical transformations. The aim of this study is to uncover the pivotal role that politics has played and continues to play throughout history in shifting the centrality of values in Western society, particularly in Europe. Consequently, it examines its capacity to control Western identity and culture willingly according to the desires and ideological orientations of its political system. The research questions this study attempts to answer is: How did politics, assumed to be an outcome of society and culture, manage to become the main player in reshaping the culture and identity of Western society? And why were values and ethics the most important tools in executing this transformation? To answer this question, the study employs a historical approach to investigate the role of politics in the West throughout its long history. It focuses on some contemporary key phenomena that have resulted from this role and their impact on Western identity and culture. These phenomena include anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, xenophobia, and LGBTQ pride. Through this analysis, the study concludes that the Western society's abandonment of its primary role in preserving its moral values and ethics, which constitute its identity and culture, in favor of politics and corrupt politicians and economists, has led to the destruction of the Enlightenment heritage that once elevated the West to its highest civilization. This role will ultimately lead Western society to an inevitable abyss, subject to the laws of civilization and the philosophy of history. This study falls within the methodological field of critical analytical studies. Its core lies in discussing and analyzing the problematic aspects of Western culture, elucidating the historical role of politics in its formation, and revealing the duality of contemporary European moral values and their immense impacts within the comprehensive interactive context.
Ayman Alrefai, Amer Abdulwahab Murshed, Sharifah Hayaati Syed Ismail Copyright (c) 2023 Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/45674 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0800 مسند زيد بن علي بين الرواية والتركيب: دراسة إسنادية تحليلية https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/43182
The aim of this research is to verify the attribution of Zayd's book to him by looking at two important factors: Checking the attribution of the book from us to the author, and the book's popularity in the scientific community. Looking at the chain of transmission, a uniqueness was found, which continued in twelve layers after Zaid. It is a severe uniqueness that is not common to happen to famous books, with its inclusion of some liars. When the book's popularity and its distribution in the scientific community were examined, it was found that from the third to the sixth century AH neither Zaid's close relatives nor the most well-known Zaidi imams who attempted to emulate his doctrine were aware of its existence, until Judge Jaafar Bin Ahmad Bin Abdul Salam Al-Bahlouli announced its unique existence and its chain of transmission. The study concluded that the book was fabricated for Zaid, that his creator is the Judge Al-Bahlouli, who is unique in its chain of transmission. He is the one for whom the book is famous, and that some chain of narrators was then composed to it. The research also revealed that what the terminologists mention about leniency in chains of transmission to authors does not apply to Zaid's chain of transmission because it violates a number of conditions they recognize in this regard.
Dr. Saeed Mohd Al-Marri Copyright (c) 2023 Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0 https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/43182 Sat, 30 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0800 Panduan Al-Quran dan Hadith terhadap Generasi Z bagi Mengatasi Isu dan Cabaran Media Sosial https://ejournal.um.edu.my/index.php/RIS/article/view/49071
In line with current global trends, social media in particular has become one of the most effective mediums for obtaining information, entertaining and spreading knowledge.
