Abstract

Muḍārabah is characterized by a high level of risk in its practical application. Some of these risks stem from the nature and type of relationship between the Islamic bank and the muḍārib (entrepreneurial client). Others arise from banking-related factors, such as the availability of capable and competent human resources and appropriate operational systems. Additional risks relate to regulatory constraints and issues of guarantees. In order to increase the rate of muḍārabah implementation, suitable methods for controlling these risks must be provided. Therefore, this study aims to shed light on the concept, nature, and types of risks faced by muḍārabah, the consequences arising from them, and to review several mechanisms and methods for managing these risks.
