Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • Name, address and email address (institution's email) of two possible referees outside the authors' institutional are indicated in the COMMENTS TO THE EDITOR.

Author Guidelines


  1. Authors should be aware of the aims and scope of the journal to evaluate whether the paper is fit to this journal; which the aims and scope of the journal are as follows:
  2. To exchange information on contemporary research findings and valuable current inputs in improving existing policies, strategies, and an implementable action plan to further develop the Halal sector.
  3. Convene the world’s experts to advance knowledge about Halal, present new research findings, promote and enhance the global halal economy.
  4. Provide an interdisciplinary platform for policymakers, researchers, entrepreneur and educators to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Halal.
  5. IHK requested submitted papers to be indicated with the theoretical/Conceptual.  The author should review previous research or theories. The theory, if any, should be relevantly applied and discussed throughout the paper. 
  6. The paper should explain clearly the Methodology, whether a systematic and coherent methodology should follow qualitative or quantitative empirical studies. Therefore, the reviewers are required to review the paper is following the convention of a research paper, which include clear abstract (with keywords), introduction, background, research questions and objectives, literature review and theoretical framework, methodology, analysis, findings, conclusion and recommendations. 
  7. The reviewers should be able to justify the contribution of the paper in few aspects such as contribution to advance knowledge in the discipline, the implication of the findings, attraction to the other people or researchers or policymakers for further research and application. 
  8. The article should show its capability in communication, which is adequate in term of language efficiency, clarity and coherence. The paper should be easy to understand and following the logical format, good data presentation, points, tables, figures, graphs, etc. 




The title should represent the Halal research.

Abstract- Should consist of 4 important elements:

  • The research focus (i.e. statement of the problem(s)/research issue(s) addressed);
  • The research methods (experimental research, case studies, questionnaires, etc.);
  • The results/findings of the research; and
  • The main conclusions and recommendations

Keywords: right keywords for the entire discourse of the paper


An introduction is the initial part of a research paper and the part that a reader is likely to read first (at least when focusing deeply and reading your paper in detail). ... The introduction of writing is going to set out your rationale, which is what research will be based around

The background of the study will provide context to the information discussed throughout the research paper. Background information may include both important and relevant studies. This is particularly important if a study either supports or refutes the thesis.

The background of the study will discuss the problem statement, rationale, and research questions. It links an introduction to the research topic and ensures a logical flow of ideas.  Thus, it helps readers understand the reasons for conducting the study.


Literature sufficiently reviewed?

Literature review surveys books, scholarly articles, and any other sources relevant to a particular issue, area of research, or theory, and by so doing, provides a description, summary, and critical evaluation of these works in relation to the research problem being investigated

Summary of previous investigations lead to understanding the state of current research, its relevance, and provides an overall understanding of the literature’s contribution to scholarship.


The methodology should be sufficiently described and use a suitable methodology. 


Data analysis supporting the findings


Appropriateness of presentation of findings


  • Restate the topic. The author should briefly restate the topic as well as explaining why it is important. ...
  • Restate the thesis. ...
  • Briefly summarise the main points. ...
  • Add the points up. ...
  • Make a call to action when appropriate. ...
  • Answer the “so what” question.

*make sure to revisit the theoretical framework, objectives, findings and connect them in conclusion. 


Please make sure include the individuals and organizations that contributed to the research by including the names, research grant title and the grant number(s).


International Journal of Halal Research (i-HAR) is following the APA (American Psychological Association) style in order to cite various sources. This APA Citation Guide, revised according to the 6th edition of the APA manual, provides the general format for in-text citations and the reference page. For more guidance, please refer to the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, (6th ed.).

Please do not include footnotes or endnotes to the manuscript. All citations must be referred to the references list and please do not include the references which did not cite in the text or manuscript. 


Please indicate all figures, maps, charts, tables, diagrams, etc accordingly. Please number all them and it must be reflected in the text or discussion. Please indicate the source(s) at the bottom of the maps, charts, tables, diagrams, etc.

Length of the paper: minimum: 6,000 words: maximum: 8,000 words (excludes references).


Language style use for publication in this IJHR are English/ Bahasa Malaysia/Bahasa Indonesia. Grammar, diction, and sentence structure do or do not impede the reading. All authors are responsible for managing the copy-editing manuscript with the suggested professional editor(s).
