Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the relationship between the application of historical thinking skills in the teaching and learning process on history subject achievement.This is a survey method using a correlation design which involving a total of 521 form four students from 23 secondary schools in a state of north Peninsular of Malaysia using simple random sampling techniques.The questionaire and achievement test which has been verified by the content expert and have a good reliability value, difficulty and discrimination index are used as research instrument in this study.The findings of this study indicate that the application of historical thinking skills have a significant moderate of negative relationship on history subject achievement among students.Beside that, the five construct in historical thinking skills significantly contributed to the history subject achievement.The implication of this study has suggested that the comprehensive implementation of historical thinking skills are needed in the teaching and learning process as it is related towards history subject achievement.
