Abstract

Raising a moral person remains an important priority in the national curriculum and education system in Malaysia. In this regard, the use of teaching techniques which can stimulate moral development among students is the current concern. This article discusses an alternative method of teaching in the secondary moral education classroom using Forum Theatre as a teaching technique to develop moral emotions among secondary students. Action research was used to collect the relevant data. A total of 18 participants were involved in this study. Data was collected through observation, focus group interviews, journal entries and video recordings. Data collected using multiple methods were analysed using thematic analysis. The results prove that Forum Theatre can be an effective teaching technique to stimulate and increase student’s awareness and recognition of their own emotions in resolving moral issues.
