Scope of Publication

The Malaysian Journal of Library & Information Science (MJLIS) is a refereed, cross-disciplinary journal dedicated to research in library and information science. Our focus is on the research process itself, especially in papers that demonstrate innovative methods, new theoretical frameworks, or unique extensions and applications of established methods and tools. We primarily publish articles written from a social science perspective.

What We Publish

  • Research articles that advance the field of library and information science
  • Innovative research methods and new theoretical frameworks
  • Unique applications of well-known methods and tools

What We Do Not Normally Publish

  • Technical information science studies (e.g., algorithmic methods for information retrieval or natural language processing)
  • Bibliometrics or scientometrics studies that focus on a single discipline or journal (other than LIS or related fields)
  • Studies that merely gauge research performance at the micro, meso, or macro level, unless they present a novel approach, new indicators, or can be generalized to a wider context

Peer Review

All papers submitted to MJLIS undergo a rigorous double-blind peer-review process.
