Abstract

School manager today needs to acquire many skills due to many challenges faced in school. A school manager needs to acquire good management skills and leadership to ensure effective management in school. An effective leader also needs to have strong desire to make a difference. This paper presented a case study investigating transformational leadership practised by a school head and learning Organisation created due to his excellent leadership in the school. Qualitative research method was employed to allow researcher to conduct interview and observation in a long duration. Observations and interviews conducted in the school studied indicated that the school head has acquired many transformational leadership criteria such as individual development, intellectual simulation, inspirational motivation and ideal influence. The school head has demonstrated excellent instructional leadership. Besides that, collaborative management practised by the school head has brought excellent results in many aspects to the school. A good cooperation enfostered among the school community has contributed to the formation of learning organisation in the school studied.
