Thinking styles and Leadership Styles of School Principals and Headmasters in Perak
Abstract
The aim of this study was to identify leadership and thinking styles of a group of school leaders (20 secondary principals and 80 primary school headmasters). The instrument “Thinking and Leadership Styles†was used to identify the leadership styles (open style or closed style) and thinking styles (critical style or creative style) of the subjects. Results indicate that the majority of the school leaders implemented critical thinking with open leadership style. No relationship was found between leadership style and thinking style. However, age appeared as a factor of the thinking and leadership styles of the subject. The finding implies that the school leaders need to enhance and practice creative thinking in leadership in schools.
