As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • • The submission paper can be sent for either the main publication section (approximately 8,000 words or for Language Briefs (approximately 3,000 words). Please indicate clearly whether the submission is for the Main section or the Language Briefs section.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

1) Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, can simply log in and follow the process.

2) The manuscript must be written in English or Bahasa Melayu and prepared on A4-size paper with 2.5 cm margins  from the top, bottom, left and right respectively. The manuscript must be prepared in Microsoft Word.doc format.

3) Centred at the top of the first page of the manuscript should be the complete title of the manuscript, full name(s) of the author(s), affiliation(s), mailing and email address(s). The author(s) email address(s) are preferably official email address(s) associated with the affiliation(s).

4) This is followed by the abstract under the heading Abstract (left-justified in bold, Times New Roman, 12 points), between 250-300 words only (not exceeding 15 lines), keywords under the heading Keywords: (not more than five keywords, in italics, Times New Roman), and followed by the manuscript text.

5) The manuscript text should be typed and single-spaced, using Times New Roman font, 12 points. Paragraphs should be separated by an indent.

6) The table or figure and the corresponding text should be placed on the same page. The font size for table and figure should be smaller text size. The recommended size is 10.  Figure or photos should be labelled with “Figure” and tables with “Table”.  They must be assigned an Arabic numeral as a figure or table number; the figure number and caption should be placed below the figure, and the table number and caption should be placed on top of the table. The first letter of the caption should be in capital letter.  The source of the figure, the table must be indicated in the text.

7) Acknowledgements: The research grants (title and number) and other acknowledgements such as the research participants, departments and agencies that contributed to the research and publication must be included in the paper. The authors must also provide a declaration of any conflict of interest.
