段玉裁形声歧出试析 Analysis On the Phenomenon Of Xingsheng Qichu (形声歧出) Put Forward by Duan Yucai

Abstract

Duan Yucai, one of the famous scholars during the Qing Dynasty, put forward the principle that the characters with the same phonetic component must be in the same rhyme group, and he analyzed phonetic components 1521 based on 9353 Chinese characters. While there were some exceptions according to his principle, which was called Xingsheng Qichu by Duan Yucai in his works Shuowen Jiezi Zhu. However, due to the limitation in terms of style, he couldn't explain the meaning of Xingsheng QiChu in detail. This paper will explain and analyze the phenomenon about Xingsheng Qichu according to Duan Yucai's examples.
