As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a Calibri 11-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

  1. The title of the paper must be written in Malay, AND English.
  2. The paper can be written in Malay OR English.
  3. Abstracts must be written in Malay, AND English together with the keywords and summarizes the key components of the manuscript, offering the reader a sample of the manuscript. Keywords must be between 1 to 8 words that best suit the topic of the manuscript.
  4. Each article or excerpt taken from another issue must include a reference source (Example, Andaya, 2014
  5. The paper must be submitted in softcopy for evaluation purposes.
  6. Names, titles, posts, full addresses, telephone numbers, and details of the author should be included on the front page.
  7. The paper should be typed in Arial (font size 12), double-spaced and A4 (210x297 mm)
  8. The author must not submit papers written by other authors or papers that have been published by the print media, electronic media or other forms of publication.
  9. Reference should be included at the end of the paper, listed in alphabetical order and based on APA format. Only references cited within the text are included. 10% of the references must be cited from APM Malay Studies Journal.
  10. The length of the paper should be within 5000 - 7000 words not including abstract and references.
  11. The Publishing Department have the right to reject any papers or articles that do not meet the criteria required for the Journal.
