Abstract

In order to produce a generation of students who have an influential quality, coherence with physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual as well as being able to interact with people from different cultures therefore, an application of multi-cultural element is to be carried out during the process of teaching and learning in Islamic Education. The case study was implementing as a qualitative approach and participants were selected among the outstanding teachers of Islamic Education by purposive sampling study. In-depth interviews and classroom observation as data collection were analyzed using the Atlas software. 7.1.7. The findings demonstrate that the application of elements of various cultures in the teaching of Islamic Education has been identified as a mechanism to develop relationship, to confirm the universality of Islam, dakwah methodology and the requirements of curriculum. The result also reveals some existing obstacles in implementing these elements, namely the constraints of teachers, lack of reading and less training. Although this study showed that the Islamic Education teachers in this study attempted to implement various cultural elements in their teaching, the level of implementation of these elements is still at an acceptable level. Hence, the Islamic Education teachers must enhance their understanding, knowledge, skills, and expertise to improve and develop their skills in applying the elements of multicultural education in the teaching of Islamic Education.
