Abstract

Qur’an education for deaf students in Vocational Colleges is based on the Standard Curriculum of the Vocational College of Islamic Education which includes recitation, comprehension, and memorization. However, the implementation of the Quran in Vocational Colleges is more specialized to typical students than to deaf students themselves. The purpose of this article is to discuss the issues and challenges faced by teachers of Islamic education with hearing problems in the teaching and learning of the Qur'an, especially deaf students in Vocational Colleges. There are four challenges faced by the al- Quran teachers, which are the implementation of the Standard Curriculum of the Vocational College of Islamic Education, al-Quran pedagogy skills, basic skills of vocal students, and the application of technology-based teaching aids for deaf students. Researchers also suggested that the basic theory of al-Quran teaching skills for visual problems is suitable to be applied to Islamic education teachers of al-Quran study of hearing problems in Vocational Colleges. This theory covers basic skills such as recognizing, memorizing, and reading. Hence, this article can help teachers of Islamic education with hearing problems in solving the problems faced by them especially in teaching and learning of the Qur'an for deaf students of vocational streams.
