The Journal of Shariah Law Research (JSLR) is a peer-reviewed academic journal committed to advancing scholarly discourse in the field of Shariah law. It aims to provide a dynamic platform for researchers, practitioners, and academics to engage with theoretical and practical developments in Islamic legal studies, with a particular emphasis on contemporary issues and applications in modern legal systems.

The journal's primary aims are to:

  • Foster rigorous research in the field of Shariah law, especially in relation to its application in Malaysia and other countries legal systems.

  • Encourage interdisciplinary approaches that bridge Shariah, comparative law, legal theory, and contemporary jurisprudence.

  • Support the development of informed and progressive Islamic legal thought grounded in classical tradition yet responsive to modern realities.

  • Provide critical analysis of Shariah-related legal reforms, fatwa issuance, court practices, and legislative developments.

Scope of the journal includes, but is not limited to:

  • Usul al-Fiqh (principles of Islamic jurisprudence) and its contemporary application

  • Islamic family law, criminal law, and commercial law

  • The role of fatwas in shaping legal and social practices

  • Islamic legal maxims (Qawa’id Fiqhiyyah) and their judicial application
