Abstract

This paper provides trend analysis and content analysis of studies in the field of intergenerational program that were published in the Educational Gerontology Journal from the years of 2000 to 2012. 515 articles were identified as being related to the topic of intergenerational program.These articles were cross analyzed by published years. Furthermore,30 latest articles were chosen and categorized as ‘research based articles’ and “non-research based articles’. Content analysis was implemented for further analysis based on their research topics, issues, research settings and samplings, research designs, research methods, instrument used and data analysis. It was found that the latest trend of articles published in intergenerational program of study were focus on the impact of the intergenerational program to the elders and the students. Elders and the students were the most utilized sample group, and the survey was the most popular method used in the research. The results of the analysis also provide insights for educators, policy markers and researchers into research trends and patterns of the intergenerational practice in the Malaysia.
