Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze the influence of emotional intelligence on change leadership competencies among school leaders in Negeri Sembilan. Quantitative research methods using non -experimental design through survey studies are used in the data collection process. A total of 214 school leaders consisting of principals and headmasters in Negeri Sembilan were selected as an independent randomized study sample. The research instrumentation used was Principals ’Change Leadership Competencies Scale /PCLCS and Emotional Competence Inventory /ECI-2. Data analysis was performed descriptively (mean, standard deviation & beta values) using IBM Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences (SPSS) and using PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling). Inferential analysis was performed using PLS-SEM (Partial Least Squares-Structural Equation Modeling). The findings of this study show that the level of emotional intelligence of the study respondents is high and showed significant relationship between emotional intelligence and change leadership competencies. This study implies that the change leadership competency variable can be significantly predicted by the emotional intelligence variable. Overall, this study produced a model to demonstrate the contribution of emotional intelligence on change leadership competencies among the school leaders.
