Abstract

This research aims to identify the level of General Competency of PLTV’s lecturers (Construction Technology, Civil Engineering), Vocational College, based on the requirement domain of Standard Competency Model according to lecturers grade and years of teaching experience. The data obtained were analysed via SPSS software version 20.0 which involved descriptive statistics method namely min and standard deviation. The data collection for assessment phase involving the identified respondent, who are lecturers for the course of Construction Technology at 45 vocational colleges from all around the states in Peninsular of Malaysia. The research respondent involved were as 304 lecturers who are teaching the course of Construction Technology, Civil Engineering at any vocational college from 14 states, which are Johor, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Perak, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perlis, Sabah, Sarawak and Wilayah Persekutuan (Kuala Lumpur and Labuan). The research outcome resulted from this research will be able to assist the Ministry of Education particularly, IPGM and Public or Private Higher Education Institution in preparing the PLTV’s lecturer especially to the Construction Technology, Civil Engineering course with specific certification, highly skilled, competitive and efficiently to empower the teaching profesion, particularly Technical and Vocational Education which is parallel to the 21st century education aspiration.
