The rapid development of technology in the production of food products, particularly meat-based products, has raised issues related to halal and haram that have caused concern among consumers, especially Muslim consumers. Therefore, the use of halal authentication technology can help address the issues that have arisen among consumers and assist scholars in issuing more accurate rulings on such matters. This study discusses the Shariah foundations, emerging issues in meat-based products, the strengths and weaknesses of halal authentication technologies used in halal verification, as well as the implications of excessive reliance on such technologies. To achieve these objectives, the researchers conducted a literature review on issues related to meat products and the authentication technologies employed to resolve them, in addition to interviewing several contemporary scholars to identify the significance and limitations of using halal authentication technology in food product verification. The findings indicate that the use of halal authentication technology has a positive impact in addressing issues such as food product adulteration and serves as a supporting tool in determining the halal or haram status of a product. However, excessive dependence on such technology may create difficulties for certain parties, including authorities and consumers. Therefore, establishing essential guidelines for the use of halal authentication technology can serve as a framework to prevent overreliance on technological measures.
