Abstract

Teaching transformations involving the mastery of the offspring need to evolve. This matter needs to be emphasized so that the teaching process of taranum lecturers is effective. In parallel, this study aims to explore the need to develop the Taranum al-Quran Teaching Model (MPTQ) in one of the Institutions of Higher Learning named ‘IPT-A’. This study uses a mixed-method design in the needs analysis phase based on the Design and Development Research (DDR) approach. In the qualitative process, data collection was conducted through a semi-structured interview with two lecturers involved in the undergraduate courses in HEIs-A. Meanwhile, the quantitative process is through the distribution of questionnaires to 59 trainee teachers of Islamic Education specializing in al-Quran year three who have completed the taranum course. Interview data analysis is by using NVivo software while questionnaire data analysis is using Statistical Package for the social science (SPSS). The results show that the support of quantitative findings can further strengthen the qualitative findings on the need to develop MPTQ in IPT-A which includes six components of teaching, namely goals, objectives, methods, techniques, fuel and evaluation. In conclusion, the need to develop MPTQ in IPT-A is an initial phase to assist the next research process for the construction of a clear and systematic model framework.
