Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

O-jIE upholds clear and well-defined policies governing editorial independence, peer review integrity, ethical compliance, corrections, retractions, and the handling of complaints. These policies are regularly reviewed and updated to ensure continuous alignment with international publishing standards and evolving best practices in academic journal management.

O-jIE recognises the increasing use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic research, data analysis, and manuscript preparation. Authors are required to transparently disclose any use of AI-assisted tools at any stage of the research or writing process. AI tools may be used only as supportive instruments, such as for language editing or data organisation, and must not replace original intellectual contribution, critical analysis, methodological decision-making, or authorship responsibility. Authors remain fully accountable for the accuracy, originality, ethical integrity, and scholarly quality of their submitted work.

Effective January 2026, O-jIE implements additional verification requirements to safeguard academic integrity. All submissions must be accompanied by a Turnitin similarity report with an overall similarity index of less than 15 percent. In addition, authors are required to ensure that the AI detection score using GPTZero is below 15 percent. Manuscripts that exceed these thresholds may be returned to authors for clarification, revision, or may be rejected at the editorial screening stage.

Failure to disclose AI use, submission of manuscripts with excessive similarity or AI-generated content, or attempts to misrepresent authorship or originality constitute breaches of O-jIE's publication ethics. Such cases will be handled in accordance with the journal’s established ethical procedures and may result in rejection, correction, or retraction, consistent with internationally accepted ethical guidelines.
