Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
The Journal of Tropical One Health (JTOH) recognizes the growing use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, including large language models (LLMs), in academic writing and research support. The journal supports the responsible, transparent, and ethical use of such technologies while maintaining the integrity of scholarly publishing.
AI tools may be used to assist with language improvement, grammar correction, formatting, literature organization, or other technical aspects of manuscript preparation. However, AI tools must not be listed as authors or co-authors, as they cannot take responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality, or ethical compliance of the work.
Authors remain fully responsible for the content of their manuscripts, including all data, interpretations, citations, and conclusions, regardless of whether AI tools were used during preparation. Authors must ensure that AI-generated content does not introduce inaccuracies, fabricated references, plagiarism, or breaches of confidentiality.
If AI tools have been used in the preparation of a manuscript, authors are encouraged to disclose this use in the acknowledgements or methods section where appropriate, clearly stating the nature and extent of the assistance provided.
The use of AI-generated images, figures, or data that may misrepresent research findings is not permitted unless clearly justified, scientifically valid, and transparently disclosed.
Editors and reviewers must also maintain confidentiality and should not upload submitted manuscripts or unpublished data into public AI platforms that may compromise author privacy or intellectual property.
JTOH reserves the right to request clarification regarding AI use and to reject submissions where the use of AI is found to compromise scientific integrity, ethical standards, or transparency.
