About the Journal
Journal of Tropical One Health
Journal of Tropical One Health (eISSN: 3154-7478) is a new scholarly initiative spearheaded by the Tropical Infectious Diseases Research & Education Centre (TIDREC) at the Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to address the urgent need for a high-quality, dedicated publication platform for One Health research in tropical regions. The idea for JTOH emerged from the recognition that while several international journals discuss One Health broadly, there was still a gap for a publication centered on the unique realities of tropical countries. These regions face distinct issues such as zoonotic and vector-borne diseases, neglected tropical diseases, antimicrobial resistance, climate change, deforestation, food insecurity, and increasing risks of pathogen spillover due to rapid urbanization and environmental disruption .
JTOH was founded to provide a multidisciplinary platform for researchers, clinicians, veterinarians, environmental scientists, policymakers, and public health practitioners to share evidence-based findings and practical solutions. The journal publishes original research articles, reviews, short communications, case reports, and perspectives covering areas such as emerging infectious diseases, animal health, vaccines and diagnostics, environmental health threats, food safety and security, and public health governance
Continuous Publication Model
Journal of Tropical One Health adopts a continuous publication model, whereby articles are published online individually as soon as they are ready, without waiting for the completion of a full issue.
Charting the Course: JTOH’s Roadmap to Scopus and Web of Science Indexing
As a newly established peer-reviewed journal, JTOH committed to upholding rigorous editorial standards and international best practices in scholarly publishing. At this initial stage, JTOH is focused on building a strong foundation of high-quality scientific contributions and a robust editorial and peer-review process.
As JTOH continues to develop its publication record and academic visibility, it will pursue inclusion in relevant abstracting and indexing databases in accordance with standard eligibility requirements. JTOH aims to achieve Scopus indexing within two years and Web of Science (WoS) indexing within three years. Any updates on indexing applications and outcomes will be communicated through this website or any other official journal channels.
