Peer Review

Confidentiality in the Review Process
The Journal of Malaysian and Comparative Law (JMCL) guarantees that every article submitted to the journal is handled with the utmost confidentiality. Each submission is evaluated solely on its academic merit, regardless of the reputation or status of the corresponding author or co-authors. Every manuscript is reviewed by the Managing Editor on a case-by-case basis. The identities of the authors remain confidential to ensure an unbiased evaluation process.

Review Process
Once the Editorial Board determines that a submitted article meets JMCL’s basic requirements (see Submission Guidelines), the manuscript is sent to two anonymous reviewers (referees) with expertise relevant to the subject matter. In the unlikely event that only one reviewer recommends rejection of the submission, the article will be referred to an additional reviewer for a final assessment.

Final Draft
Final edits are reviewed by the Editorial Board members, while proofreading and formatting are carried out by the JMCL editorial assistant to ensure accuracy and accountability. If any technical errors are identified, the editor will request the author to make the necessary corrections.

Time Frame for the Review Process
The publication process generally takes approximately three to six months from the date of submission to completion.

Publication Notification
Authors are informed of the publication status of their articles via official email once the entire publication process has been completed.
