Article Processing Charges

The Online Journal of Research in Islamic Studies (RIS) is firmly committed to the principles of open, equitable, and inclusive scholarly communication. In line with its academic mission and non-commercial orientation, RIS operates under a fully open-access model that ensures free and immediate availability of published research to readers worldwide without financial or technical barriers.

At present, RIS does not impose any article processing charges (APCs), submission fees, editorial handling fees, or publication fees at any stage of the submission, peer review, or publication process. Authors are not required to make payments for manuscript consideration, peer review, editing, or online publication. Likewise, readers are not charged subscription or access fees.

This policy supports equitable participation in academic publishing by enabling scholars, regardless of institutional affiliation, geographic location, or funding capacity, to contribute to and benefit from scholarly discourse.

RIS is operated on a non-commercial basis, and editorial decisions are made solely on academic merit, methodological rigor, and relevance to the journal’s scope, without financial influence.

Should changes to the journal’s funding model become necessary in the future due to operational or institutional considerations, such changes will be implemented transparently. Any introduction of fees would be publicly announced in advance, clearly explained, and accompanied by appropriate waivers or support mechanisms where feasible.

By maintaining this model, RIS affirms its commitment to integrity, accessibility, and the responsible dissemination of knowledge.
