About the Journal

The International Journal of Shariah in Economics and Governance (IJSEG) (e-ISSN: XXXX-YYYY) is an international peer-reviewed open-access journal established in 2026 and published by the Department of Shariah, Economics and Governance, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. The journal serves as a platform for the publication of high-quality scholarly research that advances understanding of contemporary issues in governance, economics, management, public policy, and sustainable development from Islamic perspectives.
IJSEG publishes two issues annually, in June and December. The journal welcomes original research articles, review papers, and theoretical contributions that address the intellectual, ethical, institutional, and practical dimensions of governance and socio-economic development. Particular emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary research in areas such as Islamic governance, political economy, international relations, quality management, organisational behaviour, leadership, halal governance, integrity, sustainability, and Maqasid al-Shariah.
Through a rigorous double-blind peer-review process and adherence to internationally recognised standards of publication ethics, IJSEG seeks to promote scholarly excellence and contribute to the advancement of knowledge, policy, and practice in the fields of Shariah, economics, and governance. The journal aspires to serve as a leading forum for academic dialogue and innovative research that addresses contemporary challenges and opportunities within Muslim societies and the wider global community.
