The Spoilers of Human and Civilization Development According to Ibn ‘Āshūr in His Book Al-Taḥrīr wa Tanwīr: Thematic Study

Abstract

This research aims to clarify the spoilers and obstacles of human and civilization development in the light of Qur’ān according to Ibn ‘Āshūr in His Tafseer Al-Taḥrīr wa Tanwīr. The problem statement of this research is that the spoilers of human and civilization development in the light of Qur’ān as mentioned in Tafsīr Al-Taḥrīr wa Tanwīr need to be identified and highlighted, the Qur’ānic methodology in dealing with those spoilers and obstacles also need to be clarified. This study is significant because it discusses the subjects of human and civilization development, in terms of protection and preservation, which is essential to assist man perform his duties. This research used the inductive and analytical approaches. The findings of the research show that the Qur’ānic approach not only develops human and establishes civilization, but rather sets up mechanisms to protect and preserve them from which can interrupt and spoil the development process. In addition, the spoilers and obstacles of human and civilization development according to Tafseer Al-Taḥrīr wa Tanwīr are divided into two categories, namely: the internal and external.
