Aims and Scope
The Journal of Islamic Educational Research (JIER) is a peer-reviewed academic journal managed by the Islamic Education Programme, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya. Since its establishment in 2016, JIER has served as a platform for the dissemination of high-quality scholarly works in the field of Islamic education.
The journal's primary aims are to:
- Foster rigorous and high-quality research in Islamic education, including its philosophy, curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and institutional practices in Malaysia and the global context.
- Encourage interdisciplinary and integrative approaches that connect Islamic educational thought with contemporary educational theories, social sciences, and emerging technologies.
- Support the development of Islamic educational scholarship that is grounded in classical Islamic tradition (naqli) while being critically engaged with intellectual reasoning (aqli) and modern educational realities.
- Provide critical analysis of current issues and reforms in Islamic education, including policy development, teacher education, educational leadership, and learning innovation.
- Promote evidence-based and reflective studies that contribute to the improvement of educational practice and the advancement of Islamic educational research at national and international levels.

The Journal of Islamic Educational Research (JIER) welcomes contributions in English or Malay and encourages submissions from early-career researchers and established scholars alike.
