Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Security and Information Applications (JSIA) is committed to the highest standards of publication ethics and follows the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). All parties involved in the publishing process (authors, editors and reviewers) are expected to follow the standards below.

Duties of Authors

• Submit original work that has not been published and is not under consideration elsewhere.
• Properly cite all sources; plagiarism in any form is unacceptable.
• Report data accurately and honestly; fabrication or falsification of data is misconduct.
• List as authors only those who made a significant contribution, and declare all funding and conflicts of interest.
• Disclose any use of generative AI tools in the Acknowledgements section (see the AI Policy).
• Notify the editors promptly of any significant error found in a published article.

Duties of Editors

• Evaluate manuscripts solely on their academic merit and relevance to the journal scope.
• Keep submissions confidential and ensure a fair, double-blind peer review process.
• Declare conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from handling such manuscripts.

Duties of Reviewers

• Review objectively and constructively, and complete reviews on time.
• Treat manuscripts as confidential and do not upload them to generative AI tools.
• Declare any competing interest and decline the review where necessary.

Handling Misconduct

Allegations of plagiarism, data manipulation or other misconduct are investigated following COPE guidance and may lead to rejection, correction, an expression of concern or retraction. Concerns may be reported to csnet@um.edu.my.
